Not always, and we will tell you if you don’t. A boiler that is heating your home and giving you hot water is not automatically one that needs replacing. What matters is its age, how often it has needed repairs in the last two years, whether parts are still available, and what it costs to run. How much does a boiler replacement cost?
Fitted prices start at £2,279 including VAT. What it costs you depends on the size of boiler your home needs, where it is going, and whether any pipework or flue work is involved — which is exactly what the free 22-Step Survey is for. You get one fixed price in writing before anything is booked, and that price is what you pay.
What’s included in the price?
A full system power flush, your first year’s service, a Hive Mini smart thermostat or five radiator valves, a magnetic filter, scale reducer and inhibitor, and your old boiler removed and disposed of under licence. That is over £600 of extras, included as standard, with nothing added on the day.

Why the filter and the flush matter more than the boiler brand
Every old system carries iron sludge. If it isn’t flushed out, it circulates through your brand-new boiler from day one — and it is one of the most common reasons a manufacturer refuses a warranty claim.
We power flush the whole system first. The machine uses magnets to pull the iron out until the water runs clear. Then we fit a magnetic filter so anything that forms later is caught before it reaches the boiler.
It’s the difference between a boiler that gives you trouble in year three and one that doesn’t. Both are included as standard — and both are worth looking for on any other quote you get.

Replacing a boiler that still works — when it’s worth it, and when it isn’t

The honest test
A boiler that is heating your home and giving you hot water is not automatically a boiler that needs replacing. The questions worth asking are how old it is, how often it has needed repairs in the last two years, whether parts are still available for it, and what it is costing you to run compared with a modern condensing boiler.
If it is fifteen years old, has been repaired twice recently and is costing you noticeably more each winter, replacing it is usually the cheaper decision over five years. If it is eight years old and has never given you trouble, it usually isn’t.
What actually drives the price
Very little of it is the boiler itself. The things that move a replacement price are whether you’re staying with the same type of system or converting, whether the boiler is moving position, the state of the existing pipework, the flue route, and whether the gas supply needs upgrading.
None of those can be assessed without seeing the house — which is why we survey first and quote second, and why the number we give you afterwards doesn’t change.
Why the flush matters more on a replacement than on a new build
An existing system has years of iron sludge in it. Fitting a new boiler onto an unflushed system pushes that sludge straight through the new heat exchanger, and it is one of the most common reasons a manufacturer refuses a warranty claim.
